Wickham 10k Road Race – Race Day Instructions

The 3rd Wickham 10k Road Race takes place on the 18th August, starting at 9.30am.

Below are the Race Day Instructions. These instructions contain important information for those taking part.

LOCATION – The race starts on Mill Lane, just to the north of the entrance into Houghton Way, and The Wickham Centre.

PARKING – We have been asked to request that runners and spectators avoid parking in Wickham Square, instead they should use the FREE parking at The Wickham Centre, at the Surgery in Houghton Way and in Station Close, adjacent to the Meon Valley Trail. Please note that Mil Lane will be closed from Blind Lane, and from The Wickham Centre from 8am.

REGISTRATION – Race numbers should be collected from the Registration Point, inside The Wickham Centre from 8am.

TOILETS – There are toilets in The Wickham Centre. These toilets will be accessible from 8am

TIMING – The race is chip timed. The timing chips will be attached to the race bibs. It is essential that the race bibs are worn on the front of runners shirts/vests. If not, there is a risk of the chip not being read by the system. Results will be available live during the race and a link to the posted results will also be sent via SMS to all runners.

FIRST AID – We have our own medical team, consisting of a lead paramedic, who has a team of first aid trained, medical professionals working under him, most of whom will be taking part and as such will be out on course. They will be distinguishable by a yellow ‘MEDIC’ armband. If you require any medical attention or feel unwell, before, during, or immediately after the race, you should speak to one them.

MEDALS – All runners will receive a bespoke medal once they have finished.

THE COURSE – The course is all on road. It consists of a single, clockwise lap. The roads will be closed to THROUGH TRAFFIC.

You should exercise caution when approaching road junctions as there may be some local traffic using the roads. We would ask that you follow the instructions given to you by marshals and by signs.

There will be a water station at approximately 5km. Please dispose of your cup thoughtfully.
