Race Day Instructions
We will soon be holding our Knowle Village 10k, on the 22nd March. We would like to thank the Wickham Parish Council, Winchester City Council, and the people of Knowle and Funtley for their help and support.
Your race is a 10 km (approx) mixed terrain race, comprising a single lap course, on open roads, gravel paths, muddy fields and wooded tracks. Whilst the roads are open to traffic, vehicles will be temporarily held until runners have passed through the road section. In Funtley, runners should keep to the pavement on the right hand side of the road.
The start is on the village green.
There is no need to register once you have your number and chip. However, any queries on the day, should be directed to the crew in the Race HQ, which is will be situated on the village green, adjacent to the start.
Please note that the race starts at 9.00am, with a short safety brief, at the start line, at 8.50am.
Parking is extremely limited in the village of Knowle. Please respect the local residents by NOT parking in allocated parking bays around the village. There are a few ‘Visitor’ parking spaces around the village. Alternatively, there is a large car park just off the A32, off the Knowle Road roundabout. This will mean you will have a 20 minute walk to the start, so please leave yourself plenty of time.
Some race numbers have been posted out. If you have not received yours, it will be issued a replacement on the morning of the race from Race HQ.
There is a water station on the course at approximately 5km and at the finish. Please dispose of your cup/bottle thoughtfully
The results will be published on the www.ruralrunningevents.com website, a link to which will be posted on the Rural Running Events Facebook page.
The course will be marshalled where deemed necessary in the interest of safety, but all turns and changes in direction will be clearly marked. Proceed with caution at all junctions and crossings. Ultimately, you are responsible for your own safety on course.
If you know anybody who is not taking part but would like to be involved, we still need marshals for the event. Please pass on my email address to them.
